Fire Extinguishers

Extinguishing agents:

  1. Water
  2. Carbon Dioxide
  3. Halogenated Agents
  4. Dry Chemical
  5. Dry Powder
  6. Foam

The type, size, and number of extinguishers vary according to occupancy.  For each hazard classification, NFPA 10 additionally specifies the maximum travel distance to an extinguisher and the areas that can be protected.

Usage:

Just because there is a water extinguisher on the wall, does not mean that only Class A fires will occur.  Evaluate the situation.
