Permit Process

• Must be established as a legal mechanism for ensuring safety during various manufacturing, storage, and handling activities, e.g. welding, cutting, remodeling, confined space entry, etc.
• The permit allows inspectors to review and approve devices, safeguards, and procedures that may be needed to ensure safe use of hazardous operations.
• The lack of a permit constitutes a misdemeanor in legal terms and is grounds for stopping an operation or use of a structure.
• The permit is only issued if the conditions meet code requirements.
