• Deserve special attention because they operate at temperatures above the ignition temperature of many common materials.
• Inspectors should be familiar with the fuel sources (gas, oil, wood, coal), characteristics, and storage of materials used in heating systems.
• Inspect the exterior intake. Ensure the intake is provided with a 1/2 inch wire mesh to prevent materials being drawn into the system. Location should not allow hazardous fumes to enter.
