GRAPHICAL ANALYSIS OF FLOW TEST RESULTS

Graphical analysis involves using special hydraulic graph paper. This is a special semilogarithmic paper which allows the test results to be plotted as a straight line. The test results are plotted as follows:

• First, the static pressure is plotted above 0 gpm, since no test water was flowing when the static pressure was measured.
• Next, plot the residual pressure directly above the flow that was measured during the test. When these two points are connected by a straight line, that line represents the water supply available at the test hydrant.

Any questions regarding pressure and flow at the test hydrant can then be answered.
