STORAGE
SEVERITY OF A PYROTECHNIC ACCIDENT IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE AMOUNT AND EXPLOSIVE POTENTIAL OF THE PYROTECHNIC COMPOSITION INVOLVED.
THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF PYROTECHNICS ALLOWED IN ANY PROCESS BUILDING IS 500 POUNDS.
DISPLAY FIREWORKS MUST BE STORED IN MAGAZINES IN COMPLIANCE WITH B.A.T.F.
B.A.T.F. ALSO CONDUCTS INSPECTIONS OF THESE FACILITIES.
FIRE PROTECTION
FIREWORKS CONTAIN THEIR OWN OXYGEN FOR BURNING AND EXTERNAL OXYGEN IS NOT REQUIRED.
A FIRE IN THESE MANUFACTURING FACILITIES MAY SPREAD SO RAPIDLY, IT MAY OVERWHELM THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM, RENDERING IT INEFFECTIVE. THEREFORE, THESE BUILDINGS SHOULD BE CONSTRUCTED WITH MINIMUM EXIT DISTANCES.
FIREWORKS PROCESS BUILDINGS MUST BE ONE STORY HIGH WITH NO BASEMENT AND BUILDINGS OR ROOMS LARGER THAN 100 SQUARE FEET MUST HAVE AT LEAST 2 EXITS, WHICH SHOULD BE LOCATED SUCH THAT, NO POINT WITHIN THE BUILDING OR ROOM IS MORE THAN 25 FEET AWAY.
IT IS BEST TO ALLOW THE FIREWORKS TO BE CONSUMED IN THE FIRE.
