We had two days between our land tours so one of the days we went on the following two excursions.

We took a trip through Alaska's gold mining history at the El Dorado Gold Mine and we rode the Tanana Valley Railroad for an adventure into the gold fields of the Interior.

We had a personal home visit with musher and author Mary Shields.  Mary was the first woman to finish the Iditarod Sled Dog Race.
