Pre - Incident Planning
The essential components of a pre-incident survey include:
- Life hazard - evacuation plan
- Access points; entrance, egress, driveway, force entry
- Ventilation points - skylights, roof access, need to cut
- Built in fire protection - location, sprinkler, FDC
- Water supply - location limitations
- Structural weakness - include horizontal/vertical opening, lack of fire stops, components leading to possible early collapse
- Structural strong points - fire walls, parapets
- Estimate of fire flow and determination of actual available flow
- Applicable maps
- Provision for prompt supply of needs - cooperation among agencies, mutual aid/assistance
