New firefighter video aims to reduce LODDs, injuries

NEW YORK — The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the FDNY released the latest in a series of videos that aim to reduce line of duty deaths and injuries.

"Still Working... So Everyone Goes Home" emphasizes personal safety and responsibility by highlighting changes the FDNY has made since 9/11 in relation to the NFFF's 16 Life Safety Initiatives, according to the NFFF.

"Everyone has a role in safety," said FDNY Chief Edward Kilduff. "...and this video will drive home what it means to operate safely."

The new production is a follow-up to a 2007 video about proper training and following protocols.

In late 2011, NFFF released a video made in conjunction with the Chicago Fire Department that examined the impact LODDs have on survivors.

"Our duty is to protect the lives of the public," said FDNY's Chief of Safety Stephen Raynis. "That is what they expect and that is what they deserve from us, but we need to do it safer."
