Most buildings are more vulnerable to fires during these times because of a greater amount of combustibles and hazardous materials present, an increase in potential ignition sources, and inoperable fire protection systems.

Inspection frequency should increase after framing is started.

Inspection of construction sites should include:

• Temporary water supplies on hand
• Proper location of contractor trailers to prevent exposures
• Encourage segregation of incompatible uses  (carpentry and welding)
• Ensure approved heating appliances  (stove pipes, bon fires, salamanders)
• Good housekeeping  (prompt trash removal, "clean")
