Construction, Alteration and Demolition Operations

Alterations

As older buildings are renovated, every effort should be made to bring them into compliance with present day building and fire codes.

Renovations sometimes need to be made while the building remains occupied.  It is extremely important to life safety that exits for occupants are properly maintained  (clear from debris, identified and lit, no parked cars or other objects in way).

Demolition

Cutting torches, flammable liquids and trash accumulations are among the top problems.

Flammable and combustible liquids should be drained from tanks and machinery and removed as soon as possible.

Fixed fire protection systems should be maintained as long as possible.
